The founder of the company, Şaban Faidelibaş, comes from Kayseri, a city in Central Anatolia, Turkey. He got married to his wife Fatma in 1967 and had two children – a boy Ali and a girl Şerife. He was bitten by an entrepreneurship bug at a very young age and looking for new opportunities he and his family moved to Istanbul. Here, he built his own fabric pleating machine and started to produce and sell pleated skirts in 1980.
As the business kept growing, Şaban, joined by his son Ali, decided to start producing their own fabrics for their skirt collection. They rented some premises in Bursa and bought their first weaving loom in 1995 while continuing with their garment production in Istanbul. However, fabric weaving turned out to be their true passion and it soon became the main focus of their company called SAFAŞ TEKSTIL.
First three years they were selling only semi-finished fabrics, mainly at the local market, while continuing to master their craft. Noticing an opportunity in a fast-growing home textiles industry, they decided to shift slightly their business. They sold their first fully finished curtain fabric in 1997 and they have never looked back.
They attended their first international fair in 2001 in Istanbul with a huge success. The word about their fabrics spread and they started to receive orders also from customers outside of Turkey. The good name of the company quickly helped the brand find its representatives abroad. With their help, SAFAŞ TEKSTIL has built a strong presence on the Italian, Portuguese, Spanish, and Greek market and keeps expanding to other countries around the world.
